New Relic has announced a suite of integrations for GitHub Copilot that bring continuous telemetry directly into developers’ workflows, from coding through deployment. The integrations enable engineers to understand coding agent usage, connect AI- and human-generated code deployments with real-time application performance and address production issues without leaving GitHub.
New Relic Change Tracking for GitHub Copilot connects AI-generated code deployments with production performance. The integration runs pre-merge checks against a baseline, canary gates after deployment and regression detection after deployment using real-time performance data. It also automatically routes identified regressions to GitHub Issues and Copilot for fixes and sends updates to Slack.
The announcement follows findings from New Relic’s 2026 State of AI Coding report, which found that 94 per cent of leaders rated AI-generated code as higher quality at review time, while 78 per cent reported more incidents after deployment. New Relic said the integration is designed to provide visibility into how newly deployed code affects downstream services and help reduce manual triage.
Camden Swita, Head of AI at New Relic, said, “As AI accelerates development, engineers and agents need a shared understanding of how their software behaves in production. While traditional observability locks critical data inside closed SaaS dashboards, headless New Relic brings trusted operational intelligence directly into the tools and workflows where software is built and delivered. The new GitHub integrations put that strategy into practice, helping teams understand the production impact of any deployment. Our vision is for observability to inform development decisions as they happen, giving engineers and AI agents the context they need to turn faster coding into reliable software delivery.”
New Relic has also announced the New Relic Autopilot integration for GitHub MCP Server. Built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP) standard, the integration connects New Relic’s Autopilot SRE agent with GitHub MCP Server. Autopilot can use company codebase context while triaging alerts, identifying root causes and recommending fixes.
The company has also introduced New Relic Preflight for GitHub Copilot, an open source capability that provides developers with visibility into their use of coding agents during the coding process. It helps developers understand agent efficiency, usage issues and execution errors.
Developers can view real-time model efficiency, latency and token consumption through their local integrated development environment (IDE) and command line interface (CLI). The unified local telemetry view is designed to help teams optimise costs, set up proactive alerts and evaluate suggestion accuracy across different large language models.
New Relic Change Tracking for GitHub Copilot is now available in public preview, while New Relic Autopilot for GitHub MCP Server and New Relic Preflight for GitHub Copilot are generally available.
