QNu Labs has partnered with SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) to strengthen quantum education by training and certifying the institution’s first faculty cohort to teach professional Quantum Communication courses while setting up a dedicated Quantum Communications Lab on campus.
The initiative shifts the focus from training only students to building faculty expertise, enabling universities to expand quantum education through qualified educators. According to the company, this approach is designed to help institutions prepare a larger pool of quantum professionals over the coming academic years.
As part of the collaboration, SRMIST has established a Quantum Communications Lab equipped with industry-grade quantum-safe products. The laboratory provides students and researchers with access to hardware used in practical environments, allowing them to work on real-world quantum communication technologies.
The programme aligns with the objectives of India’s National Quantum Mission by supporting both quantum technology development and the creation of teaching capabilities needed to advance the country’s quantum ecosystem.
The milestone was marked in the presence of JBV Reddy, Head of the Quantum Technology Cell, National Quantum Mission, along with leadership from T-Hub, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, QNu Labs and members of the faculty.
JBV Reddy said the National Quantum Mission aims to position India as a leader in quantum technologies and noted that the laboratory represents an important step in expanding quantum research opportunities for students with support from the Department of Science and Technology and QNu Labs.
C. Muthamizhchelvan, Vice Chancellor, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, said the collaboration gives students access to sovereign quantum technology beyond classroom learning and supports the institution’s efforts to prepare future professionals in the field.
Sunil Gupta, CEO and Co-founder, QNu Labs, said investments in knowledge and education are essential for building India’s long-term quantum capabilities and supporting innovation through indigenous technology.
QNu Labs stated that its quantum-safe products are already deployed across critical infrastructure environments and that the collaboration is intended to strengthen research, innovation and workforce readiness in quantum communication.
