Infosys has announced a strategic collaboration with Columbia University to drive the development and use of applications in artificial intelligence technologies.
As part of the collaboration, the two institutions are setting up the Infosys Topaz – Columbia University Enterprise AI Center, a research centre led by Columbia Engineering. The centre aims to help Infosys’ customers accelerate their AI-first innovations and deploy generative AI and agentic AI technologies responsibly at enterprise scale.
The collaboration also strengthens Infosys’ position in enterprise AI through Infosys Topaz, the company’s AI-first suite of services, solutions and platforms built on generative and agentic AI technologies.
Building on Infosys’ history of working with leading academic institutions, the programme will bring together workshops, co-innovation sessions and joint research with clients across industries. The work will centre on three foundational research themes. The first, AI-First Experiences and Processes, looks at how people interact with technology through natural interfaces such as voice and free-form text, and how enterprises can rethink existing business processes and models by removing unnecessary tasks and layers.
The second, Responsible and Sustainable AI, addresses emerging regulatory complexity, ethical concerns, cybersecurity and energy consumption so that AI is transparent, explainable and sustainable by design. The third, AI for Marketing, explores how AI can deliver hyper-personalised customer experiences, improve campaign effectiveness through agents, and turn marketing into a measurable growth engine using advanced analytics, predictive modelling and generative content creation.
Garud Iyengar, Avanessians Director of Columbia Data Science Institute, Professor of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at Columbia Engineering and Founding Director of the Infosys Topaz – Columbia University Enterprise AI Center, said, “We are delighted to collaborate with Infosys to drive research and play a pivotal role in helping enterprises recognize the true value of implementing AI in their businesses. This collaboration will advance vital research and offer students and enterprises a unique opportunity to co-create the next frontier of intelligent systems.”
Satish HC, EVP, Chief Delivery Officer, Infosys, said, “The Infosys and Columbia University collaboration builds on the strong and recognized credentials of both institutions in creating breakthrough AI solutions that drive innovation and value for enterprises. Together, we’re committed to shaping the future of enterprise, in the time of AI, in a way that’s not only innovative, but also responsible, scalable and impactful for both businesses and society.”
The Infosys Topaz – Columbia University Enterprise AI Center is housed at Infosys’ One World Trade Center office in New York City. It will serve as a global hub for AI innovation, bringing together C-suite leaders, research and development heads, students and technology practitioners working through the fast-changing world of AI.
