Magellanic Cloud Limited has announced its expansion into the AI-driven fuel retail and infrastructure automation segment after its wholly owned subsidiary, Provigil Surveillance Limited, received a purchase order worth Rs 44.60 lakh from Nayara Energy Limited.
Under the contract, Provigil Surveillance will implement an AI-powered Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) and video analytics platform across selected Nayara Energy retail outlets and oil depots. The deployment is designed to combine computer vision with fuel dispensing infrastructure, creating a more automated approach to vehicle identification, security monitoring and operational reporting.
The solution will enable vehicle-to-dispense validation, allowing vehicle information captured through AI-based surveillance systems to be connected with dispensing activity. Alongside this, the platform will support security monitoring and generate management information system (MIS) reports for depot operations and safety oversight.
For Magellanic Cloud, the contract represents an entry point into India’s expanding smart fuel retail and enterprise surveillance market. The company expects the initial deployment to provide a foundation for wider applications as oil marketing companies increasingly adopt digital technologies across retail outlets and distribution infrastructure.
Provigil Surveillance said the implementation could also establish a scalable operating model for potential deployments across a wider network of fuel stations and oil depots. India’s fuel retail ecosystem includes thousands of outlets operated by both private and public-sector oil marketing companies, creating a broad potential market for technologies that combine surveillance, automation and operational intelligence.
The company also sees opportunities for recurring technology deployments and upgrades as energy infrastructure becomes increasingly connected. By bringing AI-based video analytics closer to the forecourt and dispensing environment, the solution is intended to address areas such as loss prevention, operational efficiency and safety monitoring.
