HCLTech has expanded its South Africa operations with the launch of a new regional headquarters in Johannesburg.
The facility, located in the Sandton business district, will support the company’s technology innovation and delivery to enterprises in South Africa and the wider region.
The new office will house an AI Center of Excellence, where enterprises can explore HCLTech’s full-stack AI portfolio, including AI-led Service Transformation, Industry AI Solutions, AI Foundry, AI Engineering, AI Factory and AI Advisory. Businesses visiting the centre will be able to discover industry-specific use cases and move forward with their AI transformation plans. The facility will also serve as a training hub focused on building next-generation technology talent and strengthening South Africa’s future digital workforce.
Sandeep Saxena, Chief Growth Officer, Growth Markets 2 (India, Middle East and Africa, France, Iberia and Italy), HCLTech, said, “South Africa has been a strategic market for HCLTech for over 15 years, and we are proud to be a trusted partner to enterprises in the region. With our differentiated portfolio that includes full-stack AI solutions, we are deepening our commitment to South Africa with this new facility. In line with our corporate philosophy of supercharging progress for our people and local communities, we continue to have a sharp focus on enabling the local talent ecosystem through upskilling programs and university linkages.”
Alongside the launch, HCLTech is hosting a graduation ceremony for learners completing its annual skills development programme. Between FY21 and FY25, the company has supported nearly 500 students and learners through the programme, with nearly 50 participants going on to join HCLTech in full-time roles.
The company works with the University of Johannesburg, the University of Pretoria and North-West University to build South Africa’s digital talent pipeline and help close the gap between education and employment.
HCLTech has also invested in ICT and digital literacy programmes over the past five years, reaching more than 20,000 beneficiaries across South Africa. Working with educational institutions, community organisations and industry leaders, the company continues to widen access to technology, digital skills and job opportunities, particularly for underserved communities.
To mark the occasion, HCLTech’s leadership team took part in the opening ceremony at the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, underlining the company’s long-term commitment to South Africa and its technology ecosystem.
