RoadGrid India Private Limited has received financial assistance of Rs 13 crore from the Technology Development Board (TDB) under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, for a Rs 27.5 crore project to establish a manufacturing and assembly facility for its patented Universal EV Charger.
The project is aimed at strengthening indigenous EV charging technology by manufacturing interoperable charging solutions capable of serving electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, passenger vehicles and commercial EVs through a single integrated platform.
The upcoming manufacturing facility, backed by a total investment of Rs 27.5 crore, including Rs 18 crore towards manufacturing infrastructure, will have an annual production capacity of 2,000 Universal EV Chargers. Commercial production is expected to begin in March 2027, and the project is expected to generate more than 100 direct jobs.
RoadGrid’s patented Universal EV Charger integrates a 140 kW dual DC charging system supporting CCS2 and Type 6 connectors, along with AC charging capability. The facility will undertake end-to-end manufacturing and assembly of power electronics, thermal management systems, embedded software, communication modules, metering systems, control hardware, enclosure fabrication, quality testing, calibration and final system integration. Built with 100 per cent localisation, the project is expected to strengthen India’s domestic manufacturing capabilities while reducing reliance on imported technologies.
Founded in 2020, RoadGrid develops EV charging hardware, intelligent software platforms and energy management solutions. Earlier this year, the company raised Rs 12 crore in a pre-Series A funding round led by Venture Catalysts to accelerate product development, manufacturing and charging infrastructure deployment.
RoadGrid currently employs more than 40 people, holds two patents for its charging technologies, has deployed over 100 EV chargers, manages more than 200 charging points and serves six enterprise customers across Indore, Mumbai and Kolkata. The company has also partnered with VinFast, HPCL and IOCL.

The company expects the facility to generate annual revenues of around Rs 100 crore at an initial production level of 1,000 chargers and plans to address the growing demand for EV charging infrastructure in India, where more than four lakh public EV chargers are expected to be required by 2030.
