Cloudflare, Inc. has announced a major milestone in cybersecurity, becoming the first and only Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) platform to support modern post-quantum (PQ) encryption standards across its entire ecosystem.
With this update, the Cloudflare One platform now integrates post-quantum encryption across all major network configurations, including Zero Trust access, Secure Web Gateway (SWG), WAN-as-a-Service, and IPsec. The move is aimed at protecting organizations against emerging threats posed by quantum computing, which could potentially break traditional cryptographic systems in the coming years.
As quantum computing capabilities advance, existing encryption methods that safeguard banking, healthcare, and sensitive enterprise data risk becoming obsolete. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has advised organizations to transition to quantum-resistant cryptographic algorithms by 2030. However, cybercriminals are already engaging in “harvest now, decrypt later” attacks — collecting encrypted data today with the intention of decrypting it once quantum technology matures.
Cloudflare began its post-quantum journey in 2017 and introduced a cloud-native post-quantum Secure Web Gateway and Zero Trust solution in 2025. With the addition of PQ support for IPsec and wide-area networking (WAN) use cases, the company has now completed its SASE framework with end-to-end quantum-resistant security.
The upgraded IPsec capabilities offer high-availability routing across Cloudflare’s global network, automatic rerouting to the healthiest data centers, protection against future decryption attacks, and adherence to the latest Internet standards to ensure cross-vendor interoperability.
Matthew Prince, CEO and Co-founder, Cloudflare, stated that the goal is to make post-quantum security the default without requiring hardware upgrades, complex configurations, or additional costs for customers.
The quantum-safe SASE platform is available immediately, reinforcing Cloudflare’s position as a leader in connectivity cloud and next-generation cybersecurity infrastructure.
