US-Based VideoDB Acquires Chennai-Based AI Software Testing Platform Devzery

San Francisco-based AI-native video infrastructure platform, VideoDB, announced that it has acquired Chennai-based Devzery, a developer tooling startup building AI-powered regression testing workflows. With this acquisition, VideoDB is deepening its focus on developer experience and product reliability, especially as it scales across video-heavy AI use cases like surveillance, model training, and real-time media editing.

Founded in 2021, Devzery commenced its operations with a simple insight: fast-moving engineering teams shouldn’t have to write or maintain test code. Its AI agent for API regression testing plugs into CI/CD pipelines and just works. Over the past year, Devzery has been adopted by organizations like Cimpress, Shopflo, and Zeda.io. The company had also raised $125K in funding from Upekkha to accelerate growth and product development.

Commenting on the acquisition, Hemnaa Subburaj, Co-founder of Devzery, said, “We didn’t build Devzery to get acquired. We built it because backend testing is broken for fast-moving product teams.”

She further added, “Devzery’s core focus on codeless, AI-driven regression testing pairs naturally with VideoDB’s mission to make video programmable and searchable in real time. As one team, we are now positioned to build something developers haven’t seen before: reliable, intelligent tooling across video and backend infrastructure. Joining VideoDB means we get to bring that simplicity to an entirely new domain, programmable video infra.”

Launched in 2023, VideoDB is building the video-as-data stack for the agentic web – where video becomes programmable, searchable, and fully ML-integrated. Its platform enables teams to query live streams, tag footage automatically, and build entire products on top of video pipelines. By integrating Devzery into the workflow, VideoDB aims to offer developers a more robust, enterprise-ready infrastructure for building video-based products with ease.

“We think of VideoDB as the video layer of AWS – abstracted, reliable, developer-first, Devzery shares that same DNA. This is more than an acquisition for us. It’s about doubling down on developer-first infrastructure and setting a new standard for how teams work with video and APIs at scale. Their testing engine makes our stack more robust and gives our customers the confidence to ship faster, support enterprise-grade use cases, and bring new categories of automation to the VideoDB ecosystem,” said Ashutosh Trivedi, Co-founder of VideoDB.

VideoDB is backed by early-stage angels and operators in developer infrastructure and AI tooling. This marks the company’s first strategic acquisition. As part of the transition, Devzery’s founders will join the VideoDB team, while its product line will remain operational through the resources and reach of VideoDB to accelerate expansion into the U.S. market.
