An all-encompassing 200-hour journey through generative AI, robotics, fintech and key soft skills that are shaping the future of work to ensure you’re ready for what the AI-first economy requires.

Nasscom Foundation has recently trained and certified over 700 disadvantaged youth located in Delhi NCR and Bengaluru under the “AI for Skilling” initiative in partnership with Capgemini. The program delivers the most sought-after AI-skill as India prepares for an AI- led future, and an AI-led way of life – by making sure that the digital transformation of the country does not leave anyone of its citizens behind.

A Comprehensive Approach to Skilling

The ‘AI for Skilling’ program is a detailed 200-hour learning journey such as over 140 hours of technical learning in generative AI, robotics, fintech and other related sub-sectors and over 60 hours of soft skill learning.

Not a routine workshop, which says expert led discussion is designed to be more skill based modules, and hands-on experience to students’ door steps through industry visits & corporate volunteering.

This comprehensive experience is one of learning practical, technical skills that businesses need, as well as professional and interpersonal skills essential to workplace success.

Creating Pathways to Employment

Capgemini has led its Digital Academy as its legacy project, which has reskilled or upskilled thousands of youth across India. The program’s goal is to increase employability and create jobs in technology. Individuals qualifying for, and graduating from, the program have found jobs with varied organizations, demonstrating the program supports making the employment linkage between education, and employment.

Ashwin Yardi, Chief Executive Officer – India, Capgemini, highlighted the larger impact of the initiative when he stated:  “AI is ushering forth a bold new world of work-one characterized by a fusion of human potential, innovation, and inclusion.

Through Capgemini’s Digital Academy together with the Nasscom Foundation, we are closing the digital divide-supplying the youth with industry-relevant AI and technology skills to give them a better, meaningful career.

The employee volunteers who mentor and guide learners to help them along the way are another ingredient, with their purpose and passion for inclusive growth. Congratulations to our first cohort of graduates-the future is for you to lead and change!”

Jyoti Sharma, Chief Executive Officer, Nasscom Foundation, articulated the importance of digital inclusion: “AI is shaping an entirely new world of work, and is not just changing business and industries.

The collaborative work we have undertaken with Capgemini as part of the AI for Skilling initiative reflects our aligned vision of an inclusive digital economy; one where marginalized youth have access to participate in the possibility of breaking down barriers to AI access.

Creating opportunities to acquire future ready skills and focusing on foundational, core-work skills, we are nurturing the potential of India’s youth to allow them the greatest chance to ultimately realise and take advantage of evolving digital opportunities.”

The Larger Significance

This initiative is an important step to democratizing access to advanced technology skills in India. With a focus on underserved youth, the initiative tackles the digital divide, and takes steps toward fulfilling the aspirations of the nation’s ambition to become thought leader in AI and other emerging technologies. The combination of technical as well as soft skills leads to participants being well-rounded in their leadership potential, even in the AI ecosystem.

As part of development, the activity was not only restricted to technical training, but also included the expert lectures from industry experts, aptitude building modules, awareness programs. Learners also get to interact with the real-world through corporate volunteering and industry visits, where they will experience workplace etiquette and the professional etiquette in the tech world.

After the success of Phase 1, the sequel of initiative, will be aimed towards more advanced, DeepTech domains. The program’s future-proof vision is to build tech-driven career pathways for disadvantaged young people, leading to a more inclusive, empowered and future-ready workforce.
